Ouch!!

Poor Lindsey, she has gone from one ouchy to another on her little head. The most recent one was on Saturday, when she ran straight into the corner of the wall. The cut looked pretty deep so we ran her over to urgent care where they informed us they thought she would need 3 stitches. I don't think anyone young or old could have been as brave as she was. They asked her to hold still & she did (imagine that)!! She just laid there at let them stitch her up. No tears, no screaming, nothing.

We should never own anymore goldfish

I am sorry to say that Bill is no longer with us anymore. We noticed Sunday morning that he was "swimming" on his side. We tapped the bowl just to make sure he wasn't just sleeping, but alas he didn't move. So unfortunately Bill met the same fate as Phil & is now swimming in the big goldfish bowl in the sky! Derek told the kids we would try a Beta fish, so we will see how that goes.

Oh Lindsey

Lindsey & Abby just inherited some old Halloween costumes from their friend Shannon. I think this is great, what little girl doesn't love to play dress up?? My only question is, Do you want to play dress up in a big furry Eeyore outfit all day when it is 90 degrees outside & humid?? I would say NO, but Lindsey doesn't seem to mind sweating to death.

You won what????

On Thursday Grayson was able to attend the Lake County Fair with his friend. They watched the demolition derby, the motocross races, ate junk food, rode some of the rides & played some of the awesome over priced games. Fortunately for Gray & his friend there was a game that they were good at & were able to win, not only 1 but 2........goldfish. Hurray!!! Oh my goodness the boys were so excited they could hardly tell me the story of how they had won these wonderful prizes. Me being the pet lover that I am was thrilled it was a fish & not a mouse or something, but still now we have fish!! So yesterday we went out & bought a fish bowl, some colorful rocks, a plant, fish food & something to help purify the water. (Apparently we can drink tap water & survive, but fish cannot swim in it??) So Bill & Phil had the perfect set up until today, when Gray called me downstairs because Phil had died & he didn't know what to do with him. So we did what I think most people do & waved at him as he spun around the toilet. Bye Phil we will forever remember the 48 hours you spent with our family. We shared some great times together & made wonderful memories.

Coming Home

Our vacation to Utah was great, we had so much fun & it was exciting to see all of our family & friends again. But after 3 weeks of partying we were anxious to get back to our friends & home in Illinois. Derek surprised the kids & had a limo waiting at the airport to pick us up & drive us home. The girls were especially excited Lindsey said, "I can't believe we are in a magazine" (meaning limousine) & Abby was just beaming stating,"I have always wanted to ride in one of these like Hannah Montana." Gray was thrilled that there was a newspaper in the car so that he could read the comics. The kids also thought it was very cool that they could wave to everybody & no one could see them!! Talk about EXCITING.

Fire Flies

The other night I was washing the dishes & looking out the window & I kept seeing these little flashes of light. It took me a minute to realize that they were fire flies. I went running upstairs to tell the kids & Derek that they needed to come check this out. We were all very thrilled to be seeing fire flies for the first time. Last night we had some of our good friends over (all of which have seen fire flies their whole lives) & decided we should catch these critters in a jar. I thought this would be an impossible feat, but it turns out that fire flies are pretty slow (& ugly) & easy to catch. The kids loved watching them glow up close & for all you insect activists out there, we did catch & release.

Hogle Zoo

Gray always asks to go to the zoo for his birthday. This year we were thinking we would try the Milwaukee Zoo or Lincoln Park Zoo, but since we were on vacation in Utah it was off to Hogle Zoo again. Derek was still in Illinois so he didn't get to come with us (we missed you), but we did get to go with a whole bunch of other family members. We spent most of the day there & ended up tiring out most of the little kids. Hurray for nap time!!!!
